1. Overview

VCF Designer is built with a privacy-first architecture. The design tool itself does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on external servers. This policy explains what data exists, where it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Design Data

• All design data (infrastructure configurations, sizing calculations, bill-of-materials, and exported documents) is stored exclusively in your browser using localStorage and IndexedDB.
• No design data is transmitted to any server. All processing and document generation occurs locally in your browser.
• Exported documents (Word files) are generated entirely client-side and downloaded directly to your device.
• You may delete all design data at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage.

3. Personal Data Collection

The VCF Designer tool does not collect personal data. No names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information is gathered by the tool itself.

Account creation and authentication are handled by Clerk, a third-party authentication provider. Clerk’s collection and processing of account data (email address, name, authentication tokens) is governed by Clerk’s Privacy Policy.

4. Web Server Logs

The hosted deployment of VCF Designer may generate standard web server access logs. These logs may include:

• IP addresses
• User-agent strings (browser and operating system information)
• Timestamps of page requests
• Requested URLs

These logs are used solely for infrastructure monitoring, security, and debugging purposes. They are not used for tracking, profiling, or marketing.

5. Analytics & Tracking

VCF Designer does not use any behavioural analytics, session recording, heatmaps, or user tracking tools. There are no third-party analytics scripts embedded in the application.

6. Cookies

VCF Designer uses only essential cookies required for the application to function:

• Authentication cookies — Used by Clerk to maintain your signed-in session.
• GDPR consent cookie — Records your cookie consent preference.

No marketing, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies are used.

7. GDPR & Your Rights

Because all design data is stored locally in your browser, VCF Designer’s developers are not a data controller for that data. You have full control over your design data and can delete it at any time through your browser settings.

For account data managed by Clerk, you may exercise your rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability) by contacting us or Clerk directly.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access any personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability
